our history
Our Post-Graduate Basketball Program was founded in April 2016 by Patrick T. Grayson. Mr. Grayson was a former high school varsity basketball player at Johnson County High School. Grayson had stints as a professional basketball player for team USA Select in 2008, LA Summer Pro League 2006, Kentucky Summer Pro League 2008-2009, Eurobasket Summer League 2008-2010 and ABA 2009-2012.
In 2015-2016 Grayson was a volunteer men's assistant basketball coach under George Pitts at King University winning a conference championship during the regular season and conference tournament, earning a bid to the NCAA D2 tournament.
Experience Academy has grown from the vision of Patrick T. Grayson, who sought to establish a men's Post-Graduate Basketball Program in East Tennessee. Experience Prep is located near East Tennessee State University (ETSU), which is a heavily residential college area, with about four in five undergraduates living on campus. We are currently located in the beautiful mountain scenery of Johnson City, Tennessee. Johnson City, TN has a population of 60,000+. Players come to Experience Academy in order to prepare for college of what the life of a future student athlete will be like.
At Experience Academy our passion for ministering to young men, the structure of our elite trainings, our unique leadership and character development, spiritual devotions, career and entrepreneurship options, podcasts and professional video interviews, personalized life-coaching, and professional exposure branding are all part of our program to better serve you in your goals and dreams of being a college and/or professional basketball player.
Experience Academy is designed to promote elite basketball training, achievement, and exposure. We currently offer a 10-Month Post-Graduate Men's Basketball Training Program for student athletes to grow and mature athletically, academically, spiritually, and socially. Graduated seniors looking to continue their playing careers and increase opportunities to earn a college scholarship are eligible to participate in the Post-Graduate Program. USA Transfers looking to earn additional credits are also eligible for the program through our academic partner.
If you have graduated high school and your goal is to play College Basketball or play International Overseas, but you weren’t able to because of academics or lack of exposure - Experience Academy can help. If you have graduated high school and have received offers to play in college, but feel you could have earned offers from Division 1 Schools, Experience Academy may be a good fit for you. If you were heavily recruited in high school and have thought about playing professionally after college, Experience Academy is here for you.
At Experience Academy, you will learn the skills necessary to achieve success and excellence on and off the basketball court. We take academics seriously, and encourage students to give their best effort in the classroom. Education and learning is an important value, and although "Ball is Life" now there will come a time when education and personal development will pay off in the future.
